Today’s card has been in my head for awhile but this is the first time I have got it down on paper (excuse the pun lol) I wanted to have a textured stand out background for this card so I chose one of the new designer series papers called “Magic in this Night”. This pack of paper will be available on the 4th August for customers to order. It might surprise you, but this is actually one of the papers from the halloween section of the new Mini Catalogue, and there are some nice designs in it that can be used for any occasion, not just halloween.
To get the textured effect on the designer series paper (dsp) I took one of the masks from the Basic Pattern decorative masks set and taped it to the dsp. Holding the mask firmly, it was generously stamped with Versamark ink. After doing that the mask was gently removed from the dsp and white embossing powder was sprinkled over the entire mask making sure no area was missed and then heat set with the heat tool. Next a piece of scrap whisper white cardstock and Memento ink was used to stamp the smallest flower from the Prized Peony set. As there is quite a bit of texture in the background I did not want to take away from that and chose the smallest flower. Using Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive combo blends I coloured in the flower and leaves along with pumpkin pie blends to add colour to the stamens. Taking my paper snips I fussy cut out the flower. To give the flower some life likeness I used a stylus on the back to round out the petals and leaves. The sentiment from the set was heat embossed with gold embossing powder and the card insert was stamped with the same flower in Memento and the coloured flower was painted lightly with a little bit of bling using the clear Wink of Stella glitter pen. To finish off, the embossed dsp was placed on a whisper white matt and adhered to a black card base and finally the sentiment and flower were adhered using black dimensionals to give it some height.
